Ryan has 25 years of experience researching and managing investment portfolios. 

He consults to institutions, family offices and RIAs on manager research, asset allocation, governance, and processes.

Previously, Ryan worked for the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians as Director of Investments, building their $3 billion endowment portfolio from scratch across multi-asset classes. 

Prior to that, he was a Vice President at Research Affiliates, a $175 billion multi-asset investment firm that sub-advises the PIMCO All Asset Fund.  While there, he conducted investment research and managed products across a broad group of asset classes, including equity strategies, fixed income, commodities, and low volatility.  Ryan also provided capital markets and strategy investment communications to institutional investors and investment committees, and was responsible for the firm's investment reviews and authored publications and research.

In addition, Ryan previously worked at the University of Oregon Foundation, where he conducted research on all aspects of the university's endowment and worked in asset class and manager research as a Partner at Bank of America/CTC Consulting in Portland, Oregon.

Outside of work, Ryan volunteered for six years on the Irvine Unified School District Citizens Oversight Committee for their $350 million Measure E Bond to improve the schools’ infrastructure and was the Treasurer for the Village Park Community Association.

Ryan received his BA from Lake Forest College in 1998 with a major in Finance and a minor in Political Science. 

Ryan lives with his wife, Anna-Lisa, and two daughters, Annika and Nora, in Irvine, California.  In his free time, he enjoys traveling, hiking & mountaineering, photography, coaching his girls’ teams and, hailing from Wisconsin, cheering on the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Badgers.
